The Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES) is a government agency providing services to other Oklahoma government agencies. The OMES Communication Department is seeking a full time Publication Designer for our Oklahoma City location. This is an Unclassified, position within Oklahoma State Government.  In addition to a comprehensive Benefits Packet the annual salary for this position is $38,000 - $42,000.00 based on education and experience. 

Daily Activities: 

Works cooperatively with key OMES content stakeholders and customers;

Develops, designs, and produces exhibits, publications, and presentations;

Performs critical review of content to ensure adherence with Style Guide requirements;

Review emphasis is placed on readability, and sentence and paragraph structure as well as Style Guide compliance;

Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts;

Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval;

Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; and reviewing professional publications;

Responsible for posting to the Mass Information Distribution System (MDIS), within established service level agreements, the original, updated, and final versions of publications created by OMES business units. Duties include notifying publication originator of the assigned MDIS number and sending e-mails to established review groups notifying group members of a new, updated, or final posting of a publication. Also responsible for combining the edits of the Publications Unit to documents posted to MDIS into one response and sending to publication originator;

Creates style and branding guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in visual communications, design, graphic or commercial art, or closely related field
AND
3 years of experience in producing projects such as brochures, signage, or other related work using digital technology;
OR
60 semester hours from a college or university with 12 semester hours in marketing, visual communications, mass communications, photography, advertising, or design
AND
4 years of experience in producing print media or other related  electronic media using digital technology;
OR
 an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preference will be given to the following:

Experience with publications and design packages and document creation software, including Adobe Creative Suite 5 or higher, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and the Microsoft Office suite.
